Director, Incarcerated Writers Initiative

Led IWI, a program that connects incarcerated writers with Columbia students. Managed a staff of 30 readers, editors, social media coordinators, art and outreach teams as we offered feedback to hundreds of incarcerated writers, selected the strongest pieces, and compiled them into our annual print/online magazine.

Taught a weekly Advanced Creative Writing seminar/workshop to teenage students in

Armenia via the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies. Developed lesson plans relating to craft, structure, and language. Critiqued student work.

Learned the basics of publishing from managing, editorial, art, marketing, and publicity departments. Coordinated specs in metadata, prepared mechanicals for printer, slugged page proofs, wrote reader’s reports, conducted outreach to potential blurbers, researched outlets for media pushes and author interviews, copyedited, and wrote literary news stories for the blog.

Census Manager, Good Old Lower East Side, Inc.

Led the “Get Out The Count” census campaign and reached more than 55,000 New Yorkers, helping the LES have the highest Census participation in Manhattan. Trained and managed a team of 6 interns and 25 volunteers, communicated with city council on funding,

co-created our volunteer program, and wrote grant reports.

Helped launch a civil rights campaign to open  public restrooms in NYC, led the research component including managing a team of five researchers. Led communications and social media.
